Are you a scientist, researcher, or postgraduate student with an innovative idea that could change lives? Do you have a research-based innovation that could solve real-world problems and transform industries? If so, this is your chance to bring your idea to life and turn it into a successful start-up.
The African German Entrepreneurship Academy (AGEA) is excited to announce the call for the Science-Based Start-up Project Application 2025 as part of the ACCESS 2.0 project. This initiative supports and promotes innovative, research-driven start-ups from African universities. The goal is to bridge the gap between scientific research and real-world applications, ensuring that interesting technologies and research results do not remain in the lab or shelves but make a tangible impact on society.
AGEA calls on scientists, lecturers, researchers, and research students from universities in Benin, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tunisia, and Ethiopia to submit their business ideas. This is an opportunity to receive training, expert coaching, potential funding support, and international exposure to help take your start-up to the next level.
The competition is open to science-based technology start-ups offering innovative solutions to pressing challenges. We’re particularly interested in projects that:
- Are based on scientific research or technological innovation
- Address real-world problems with commercial potential
- Have a prototype, product model, or minimum viable product (MVP)
- Are scalable and have the potential for future growth
Selected participants will receive Training in Business Model Development to gain hands-on experience in business planning and entrepreneurship through a 10-day start-up training at Leipzig University, Germany.
Application Deadline: 2nd March 2025
